There
are many kinds of lies like - barefaced, minimization, white lies, contextual
lies and economy with the truth lies. Lying by omission is only one of over
twenty five kinds of lies yet it ranks among the most deadly and nefarious of
them all.
It
is a matter of emphasis that far exceeds the glass is half full analogy, but is
more like sleight of hand, magic or prestidigitation. It is a call to look at
what I am holding in this hand so you won’t see what I am doing with the other.
When utilized in political campaigning it is always a desperate attempt to divert
attention away from a dismal record or performance.
Lies
of omission are particularly offensive because they rely on the assumed
ignorance of those that hear them. They are an insult to the intelligence and
intuitiveness of most people because they depend on the hearer’s ignorance or
distraction to have any effect at all. Telling lies of omission requires a
great sense of timing as well. Politicians use the last days of a campaign to
blast the lies across the campaign trail and hope there is not time enough for
the sycophants to research or uncover what Paul Harvey used to call, ‘the rest
of the story.’
Looking
squarely in the face of the latest rhetoric
coming out of the Obama camp is where lies of omission will be seen to be alive
and well as the last four months of the great decision comes down the pike.
Let’s peruse just a few of those lies of omission.
Obama
and dem’s are reporting jobs increases to the public in campaign stops and
media. The latest figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicated that
80,000 jobs had been created in June. This report has been heralded with great
pomp and repeated by dozens of main stream media sources.
Only
conservative and more objective media has bothered to tell the ‘rest of the
story.’ In June 85,000 people went on disability! This trend has never been
fully revealed by any liberal source much less the President’s campaign. But
this particular lie of omission is only the tip of the iceberg.
In
fact since June of 2009, over three million workers have been signed on to
disability even as Obama and friends are trumpeting the 2.6 million jobs they
say have been created by the administration in the same period of time. Job
losses are still outpacing gains by anyone’s mathematics, but in the business
of creating lies of omission this fact needn’t be told or emphasized - or even
mentioned.
The
latest push in the Obama
campaign is the
imaginary ‘class warfare’ struggle that was once sold to Russia and became what
is now known as communism. OWS and anyone feeling the slightest bit
disenfranchised in America today, is likely to get onboard this roaring train
created and fueled by Obama campaign strategists.
The
lie omitted is that the taxes the rich are not paying is infinitesimal compared
to the taxes that will now fall on the middleclass, courtesy of Obamacare.
Omitted is the fact that Obamacare represents the single largest tax hike in
America’s history.
It
doesn’t take a math wizard to work the figures that uncover this great lie, but
the Obama campaign knows that promises, personality and prevarication often
outweigh pragmatism when a campaign is heated and closing in for the expected
kill.
Obama
has blamed George Bush, the Congress and now the rich for destroying the
economy and jobs but he has carefully omitted the fact that the huge bloc of
voters between the ages of 18 to 29 has a 12.8% unemployment rate since he took
office and there is no relief in sight. This is the largest group of supporters
he had in 2008. If not mentioning this fact works toward re-election you can
bet that not a whisper will come forth from the Obama campaign from now to
November.
From
here to November sixth it is what Obama does not say that we should be
listening for the most.
It
is said that lying to one’s self, is a mark of insanity. Lying to those around
you is a mark of instability, but lying to everyone is the mark of a
politician. According to scripture, liars are counted among the worst society
can produce.
“I am Alpha and Omega, the
beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his
commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in
through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and
whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a
lie.” (Rev 22: 13 – 15)
