All year, Senator Charles "The Charming" Schumer (D-New York) was all over the television smiling, talking about health care and, generally, being a very charming person. That all ran out Sunday as he was preparing to fly from New York back to Washington on a US Airways flight. The senator was busy talking on his cell phone when the flight attendant asked all passengers to turn off their cell phones. The mere mortals on the flight complied but not Senator Schumer who continued talking about important things.
The flight attendant asked him to please turn off his cell phone since the flight was being delayed. "Can I just finish this call?" Schumer snapped. "No," the flight attendant replied.
Schumer turned off the phone but also commented loudly enough for people around him to hear that the flight attendant was… something… a naughty word which rhymes with "rich."
In a related story, Congresswoman Virginia Foxx (R-North Carolina), shushed other members of Congress who were talking during a speech at the weekly Republican Conference.
I know it would be a little out of her way but maybe we could get the gentle lady Mrs. Foxx to join the rowdy Senator Schumer on his flights to and from New York and "shush" him at the appropriate moments
