| TAKE ACTION: Encourage your U.S. House of Representatives to help Nancy Pelosi's concerns about who will pay for defending marriage -- if the Department of Justice won't defend marriage, redirect the resources from the DOJ to the U.S. House of Representatives! On March 11th, Nancy Pelosi -- who is rarely so deeply concerned about the taxpayers of America -- sent a letter to Speaker John Boehner worried about the cost of hiring lawyers to do the job the Obama Administration refuses to do on protecting the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Just for background: when Nancy Pelosi took the gavel, the federal deficit was $162 billion. When she turned it back over to Speaker Boehner, that number was $1.2 trillion dollars. Has Nancy Pelosi seen the light on taxes??? You and I know the answer… and yet on April 18th a response came from Speaker Boehner. Congress relies upon the Department of Justice to defend the constitutionality of our laws and appropriates taxpayer dollars for this purpose. Since the Obama Administration refuses to uphold the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), Speaker Boehner has asked Nancy Pelosi to join him in redirecting those resources to the U.S. House of Representatives. Will Nancy take the Speaker up on his offer to protect the American taxpayer and defend DOMA?
