Brit Hume: There is Hope for Tiger Woods!

By Rev. Louis P. Sheldon

Brit Hume: There is Hope for Tiger Woods!January 4, 2010 – Liberals and atheists are losing their minds over a comment made yesterday by Brit Hume on Fox News about Tiger Woods. The blogosphere is filled with hateful diatribes against Hume for daring to suggest that Woods can recover as a person if he turns to the Christian faith.

Tiger Woods is apparently a Buddhist. Hume shared that Buddhism doesn’t provide for any sort of repentance or restoration for sinful acts.

As Humes notes: “The extent to which he can recover seems to me depends on his faith. He is said to be a Buddhist. I don't think that faith offers the kind of redemption and forgiveness offered by the Christian faith. My message to Tiger is, ‘Tiger turn to the Christian faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world’.”

Bravo for Brit Hume! He spoke in such simple and loving words to Tiger Woods. His message was clear and theologically on-target.

Hume graciously encouraged Woods to consider Christianity in his rehabilitation. The truth is the surest road to full recovery and true rehabilitation for Woods is through the acceptance of Jesus Christ as his Lord.

Now this is not about what is wrong with Buddhism, it is about all the things which are right about being a Christian.

On MSNBC, two commentators spent much of their program complaining about their opinion that there is no place for religious discussion on politics or news shows.  “This belongs on the 700 Club,” said one.

The fact is a religious opinion has just as much weight as other opinions and any time is a good time to hear the good news about the love, mercy and justice of Jesus Christ.

Christianity offers every person on earth the hope of eternal salvation and a place in heaven when death comes.

Brit Hume has made atheists and liberals angry, because he told the truth. And, as Jesus said, “the truth shall set you free.”

There is hope for Tiger Woods and for all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  Tiger can become all he was created to be and see his life and career restored.
