EPA Carbon Decision Will Destroy American Economy

EPA Carbon Decision Will Destroy American EconomyDecember 11, 2009 – This week, the United Nations Copenhagen climate change conference began and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) headed by Lisa Jackson, issued a ruling against carbon dioxide as a dangerous greenhouse gas (GHG).

The EPA decision gives this government agency the power to regulate any business entity in the U.S. that emits carbon dioxide.

However, the Heritage Foundation has estimated that carbon dioxide regulations will create a loss of $7 trillion by 2029 to our nation’s gross domestic product, energy cost increases of 30% or more and annual job losses to exceed 800,000 a year for several years.

“Unless overturned, the EPA decision, which is based on fake statistics, is going to greatly harm our capitalist system,” said TVC Executive Director Andrea Lafferty.

Jackson’s decision comes just a few weeks after climate scientist emails were posted on the Internet showing that they were faking statistics to push a global warming political agenda. Climate scientists were deliberately adjusting data to hide the decline in global warming over the past decade.

They also deleted raw data so they could avoid having to actually prove their claims.

The Climategate scandal has been widely covered by bloggers and Fox News, but few of the dinosaur media outlets have covered the story.

These unethical scientists are the ones who supply data to the United Nations and their faked data will be used at the Copenhagen conference to justify the takeover of world economies in order to deal with a non-existent crisis. President Obama will attend the conference and will push a globalist agenda.

Lisa Jackson is helping push this global warming fiction along in the United States by her ruling yesterday.

The fact is that there is no credible evidence that climate change is being influenced by industry or carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. These are simply scare tactics used by globalists to punish industrialized nations with draconian regulations and global taxation.

Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) has taken a leadership role over the years in fighting against the global warming crowd. He has been ridiculed as a “climate denier,” but has kept on fighting for the truth. The posting of the climate scientist emails confirms what Inhofe has been saying all along: The data is not credible on global warming and America should not rush headlong into changing its policies or signing climate treaties that will destroy national sovereignty.

EPA Power Overextended

Shortly after Lisa Jackson issued her ruling on carbon dioxide, Sen. Inhofe sent out a press release. In it, he noted: “Obviously the concept of regulating carbon dioxide under the Clean Air Act is flawed and the Act must be amended by Congress," Senator Inhofe said. “Today’s notice should concern all lawmakers, no one should want the EPA to exercise the kind of power and authority that the career staff at EPA contemplates.

“Just last month the United States Senate considered and soundly rejected the climate ‘cap-and-trade’ proposal known as the Lieberman-Warner Bill. It is ironic that the EPA has proposed an even more economically destructive scheme this close to that Bill’s demise. If Congress does not act, then the resulting regulations could be the largest regulatory intrusion into Americans personal lives, a nightmare scenario. Big brother is alive and well in the career ranks at the EPA.”

Earth To Jackson: CO2 Is Not A Pollutant

High School biology students know that CO2 is a building block of life on this planet. Lisa Jackson apparently doesn’t. Here are a few real scientists (not Obama political activists) who actually understand photosynthesis and the role that CO2 plays in our world:

"CO2 is not a pollutant. In simple terms, CO2 is plant food. The green world we see around us would disappear if not for atmospheric CO2. These plants largely evolved at a time when the atmospheric CO2 concentration was many times what it is today. Indeed, numerous studies indicate the present biosphere is being invigorated by the human-induced rise of CO2. In and of itself, therefore, the increasing concentration of CO2 does not pose a toxic risk to the planet." - John R. Christy, Ph.D. Professor of Atmospheric Sciences, University of Alabama

"Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant but a naturally occurring, beneficial trace gas in the atmosphere. For the past few million years, the Earth has existed in a state of relative carbon dioxide starvation compared with earlier periods. There is no empirical evidence that levels double or even triple those of today will be harmful, climatically or otherwise. As a vital element in plant photosynthesis, carbon dioxide is the basis of the planetary food chain - literally the staff of life. Its increase in the atmosphere leads mainly to the greening of the planet. To label carbon dioxide a "pollutant" is an abuse of language, logic and science." - Robert M. Carter, Ph.D. Professor of Environmental and Earth Sciences, James Cook University

"Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant. On the contrary, it makes crops and forests grow faster. Economic analysis has demonstrated that more CO2 and a warmer climate will raise GNP and therefore average income. It's axiomatic that bureaucracies always want to expand their scope of operations. This is especially true of EPA, which is primarily a regulatory agency. As air and water pollution disappear as prime issues, as acid rain and stratospheric-ozone depletion fade from public view, climate change seems like the best growth area for regulators. It has the additional glamour of being international and therefore appeals to those who favor world governance over national sovereignty. Therefore, labeling carbon dioxide, the product of fossil-fuel burning, as a pollutant has a high priority for EPA as a first step in that direction." - S. Fred Singer, Ph.D. Professor Emeritus of Environmental Sciences, University of Virginia

"Carbon and CO2 (carbon dioxide) are fundamental for all life on Earth. CO2 is a colorless, odorless, non-toxic gas. CO2 is product of our breathing, and is used in numerous common applications like fire extinguishers, baking soda, carbonated drinks, life jackets, cooling agent, etc. Plants' photosynthesis consume CO2 from the air when the plants make their carbohydrates, which bring the CO2 back to the air again when the plants rot or are being burned." - Tom V. Segalstad, Ph.D. Professor of Environmental Geology, University of Oslo

"To suddenly label CO2 as a "pollutant" is a disservice to a gas that has played an enormous role in the development and sustainability of all life on this wonderful Earth. Mother Earth has clearly ruled that CO2 is not a pollutant." - Robert C. Balling Jr., Ph.D. Professor of Climatology, Arizona State University
